Thai Longan Drink Recipe (Nam Lamyai)

Easy Thai longan drink recipe (nam lamyai) made with canned, dried, or fresh fruit. Sweeten to taste and serve it iced for a cool summer refreshment!

Equipment

  • Knife to peel and pit fresh longan
  • Small pot or saucepan
  • ladle for serving

Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp natural cane sugar
  • 600 ml water
  • 1 pandan leaf
  • 200 g fresh longan fruit

Instructions

  • Prep the longans. Peel and pit the fresh longan fruit. Set them aside in a bowl.
  • Make the syrup. In a small pot, bring water to a gentle simmer. Add brown sugar and a pandan leaf. Simmer for about 5 minutes, until fragrant and lightly thickened.
  • Combine and cool. Turn off the heat and add the longans to the syrup. Let it cool to room temperature, then chill in the fridge. Serve over ice for a refreshing longan juice!
