Equipment

  • Sticky rice steamer
  • Cheesecloth
  • Mixing bowl
  • Charcoal grill or grill pan
  • Pastry brush
  • Tongs

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Steam the sticky rice. Soak the glutinous rice for at least 4 hours or overnight, then steam until tender. Let it cool just enough to handle.
  • Shape the patties. While the rice is still warm, knead it briefly and shape it into thick oval or round patties.
  • Prepare the egg mixture. Whisk the eggs and golden mountain sauce together until well combined.
  • Grill. Grill the patties over low heat, turning often. Brush each side with the egg mixture twice, sprinkling lightly with salt as they cook.
  • Serve. Continue grilling until both sides are crisp and golden with a soft, chewy center. Serve immediately.
